Five-and-seven Syllable Meter (五七調)

Five-and-seven syllable meter is a form of poem in which words of Goon (five syllables) and Shichion (seven syllables) repeat one after another.

It gives simple and powerful impression in contrast with seven-and-five syllable meter. This meter is mainly used in Manyoshu (Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves).
